Look what came in the mail today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So exciting!  Note the curved edges. I love them!  Colleen and I ordered them from this great on-line company that was WAY reasonable with their prices!  Thank you, Dan, for all your help with them!  Choosing the picture was NOT easy!!!  Too many cute ones to choose from!  Our goal, though, is to swap them out with the seasons………..doesn’t that sound like fun??
Anyways—just had to share.  If only our website was all ready to go now….

big milestone

21Jan

I finally broke down and took Will to get his first “real” haircut! I am loving the longer look on him, yet I knew he had to get it trimmed up. I’ve taken the scissors out a few times to trim up around his ears, but I finally realized the big milestone had come!  I took Will to a super cute kids’ shop and he even got to sit in a fire engine chair and ring the bell while the hairstylist snipped away!  I grabbed a few locks for his keepsake book!  The pictures portray his reaction………complete wonder and surprise!  Yet, he walked around all night saying, “me haircut” and wanting to look in the mirror!  I think he was pretty proud of it!

Welcome 2010

06Jan

My goal is to post a blog of 2009 presented in pictures!  I’m still working on it………it’s more difficult than I thought. There are too many fun things that happened, and I am forever grateful for that!

I have looked back at my new year’s resolutions for 2009 and really processed my accomplishments.  I am at peace with the progress I have made and will continue to work on each one daily. Here are some new resolutions for 2010:

1. Find more confidence in myself, especially when it comes to photography and teaching.

2. Run a half marathon this year!

3. Volunteer more of my time and talent

4.  Be more spontaneous and get more comfortable with just going with the flow

5. Spend more 1 on 1 time with each of the kids and Mr. Joel

6. Get more involved with the Church

7. Cook more meals………..Uggh this is a tough one for me!

8.  Make an effort to connect with my extended family more often

9.  Find a place/job within nursing that I really love and enjoy.  I know it means switching jobs, but I’m really ready to make the move this year!

Another thing I wanted to mention is the fact that there is something very fun and exciting that Colleen and I have been working on!  That is part of the reason why blogs have been so few and far between lately…….  (atleast that is the excuse I’m using). It’s still a work in progress……….but you can take a sneak peak:  sweetLCphotography.com

Also, I did upgrade my camera body as a Christmas gift to myself!  I am still learning the ins and outs, but overall I am thrilled to have taken the big step!

for real….

14Dec

I am feeling pathetic about getting blogs in lately.  I am currently compiling my new years list of goals for 2010, and blogging on a regular basis is definately one of them!!!  Sorry, folks.  I am going to get another “ketchup” blog in and than hope that I can start my new years resolution early!! I apologize in advance for the long post.  Enjoy!

First, I’d like to start with posting a few Thanksgiving pics.  My sister, Becky, did a beautiful job hosting this year in her new townhouse.  I promised her a few pics of her table setting.  It really was pretty.  Now I feel a little pressure for Christmas………..

Joel and I were able to be one of the 3 hosts for our annual neighborhood progressive dinner! It was a good excuse to get motivated and fill almost every empty frame in my house, while dusting and cleaning in areas that I didn’t even realize dirt could get into.  Michelle—I didn’t get to the ceiling fan, as I’m sure you noticed it running for that reason. Let’s just say, it was a GREAT time!  We really do have the best neighbors in the entire world!  Angie and Chris, thank you so much for co-hosting with us!  Angie, thanks for coming up with the homemade pizza theme, while preparing and taste-testing all of them first!!!  You are a true friend.  I envy your organizational skills.  With your help everything went so smoothly!
Of course, here are a few pics.  Note the cowboy hat that I won at the first house! Yee-haw!!!
A little karaoke at the 3rd house!  I can’t remember what song Joel sang—but I remember being so proud of him for trying!
This is Joel’s, “I’m a stud” face! For some reason this picture brings me back to our college years together!

Both Claire and Charlie came home with their report cards last week!  We are so proud of both of them!  It is so interesting to see how different they each are from each other, yet so alike in other areas.  This is a summaryof each:  Claire is so academically talented.  She loves to be challenged and succeeds. She has a contagious personality and enjoys being a good friend to her peers.  Charlie LOVES to have fun at school and comes home with a new “best friend” daily. He is well-liked by his peers.  He aims to impress, and therefore tries very hard to learn.  Lots of patience and repetition is key for him. I just dance inside to see his strong desire and determination to learn. I am amazed at how much he has already accomplished!  We couldn’t ask for better teachers or a better school  for the kids to learn at. As I drive by the church to pick the kids up from school, Will yells out from the backseat, “Jesus’ house”!! It is a great reminder of how happy and fortunate we are that we have St. Vincent’s.

Here is a precious moment that I had to capture on the kids’ day off last week!  Seriously, I just LOVE having all the kids home together! How heartwarming is this??

Finally, one of the highlights this year has been Claire starting violin lessons.  It has been just magical listening to her practice and learn new songs.  She has been able to take lessons during school, which has been so convenient.  She loves it so much that she asked to join the school’s orchestra!  It probably was influenced by the fact that her cousin, Caroline, was joining as well!  We all attended their first orchestra concert last week.  They played for the entire school. Here are a few pics.  It gets me so excited for her first solo recital in St. Paul this saturday. I’ve already got the kleenexes packed and ready to go.
Sweet Caroline with the cello!

“ketchup blog”

10Nov

I feel so behind on blogging these days!  Too many things to even blog about lately!  Let’s see here……….this is what’s been going on since my last blog:

Ran 2 more races!  The Autumn Woods Classic 10K that we finished in 54 minutes and some odd seconds, as well as the Grey Ghost Run in Anoka that we kicked butt at!!  We finished in 26:31(30th place out of 323 women in my age group)!!!  As Jodi said, “We slap numbers on our shirts and don’t look back”!

Had a blast on Halloween!  Claire was a little geisha, Charlie was Obi-Won Kanobi and Will was a little puppy!

Finished volunteering for the bookfair at school and now planning the Breakfast with Santa for December!

Agreed to co- teach a couple photography classes with Colleen in January! Yikes, what am I thinking??

Enjoying the beautiful weather with the kids! Hopefully this will help shorten up the winter???

Finally had a date night with Mr. Joel!

Scored a great find on Craigslist!  (Thomas bed from PB for little Will—as soon as he figures how to climb out of the crib… or falls out first!)

Finally picked out new glasses! I was so overdue for them!

Started Christmas shopping!

Constantly cleaning and trying to keep my life organized with 2 kids in school!

Had family pictures done (Thanks, Colleen) for the Christmas card!  You’ll get a sneak peak below! And of course, I will not post the family picture that will be chosen for the Christmas card! Surprise!

Because I’m so behind on blogging, I’m just going to put a few random pictures in just to feel a little caught up!

Autumn Woods Classic 10k finishers!  Couldn’t believe we had to run in ice and snow!

The Fab Four after the Grey Ghost Run!

All the Salzer cousins in costume!
                                                                   Our little puppy dog!
The annual neighborhood Halloween parade and pizza party!
Really???  This was NOT an easy mess to clean up!!
Just love Will’s expression in this one!
Can you tell that at this point in the session we were losing the kids????

blessings

20Oct

By far, my greatest blessings are my kids.  Looking through these fall pictures that I took of the kids makes me so happy! I just smile as I shuffle through them.  Charlie couldn’t look more like Joel.  In fact, as I was getting him dressed he looked at me and saie, “I love this outfit, I look just like Daddy!” Then, I look at Claire and can’t help but think about the fact that she is almost 8 years old and try to imagine what her face will look like as a young lady.  And little Will continues to bring so much joy to us!  His little run and the way he scrunches up his nose when he smiles is truly the best!

I found this beautiful area of the Park on one of our runs.  I’m very happy with the way they turned out!  Thanks to Mr. Joel for getting the kids ready and for making them laugh as I took the shots!

two already??

09Oct

My baby is two years old today!  Wow how time flies when you’re having fun!  We’re all trying to teach him to say “two” whenever we ask Will how old he is.

I took this quick picture of him today……he was acting hilarious with the kids and I took it as he was hanging upside down!  He just cracks me up!

55:15 finish time

03Oct

Well, we finished the 10K this morning and it was a blast!!!!!  Although the weather wasn’t great, the rain held out just long enough so we didn’t end up all soaking wet and cold!  Summit  is a beautiful street to run through and I couldn’t have asked for better running partners!  Thanks Angie, Jodi and Amy!  You 3 are the absolute best!  We ran an average of 8:54 minute miles and held strong the entire run. Remind me to never ever try and drink a cup of water and run at the same time!  Thank you, but I think I’ll pass on the water breaks next time!

Here are a few pictures.  All courtesy of Mr. Joel.  Thank you so much for bringing the kids and standing in the rain and cold waiting for me to come through the finish line.  I know we snuck up on you guys—–therefore all the shots of us already having passed you all.

The 7:30am start was cold and windy.  The one and only beautiful St. Paul Cathederal!

Will waiting so patiently for Mom to hurry up and finish already! Notice the signs
the kids had made for us!  My favorite was Claire’s:  “Sweat is my Mom’s perfume!”  What a hoot!
The “Fab 4″ coming through the finish line!

The kids so happy I had finished.  My favorite cheerleaders!
Me, Amy, Jodi & Angie so thrilled we had 6.2 miles behind us!

ice cream treat

01Oct

Yes–another 6 miles down this past weekend and this is what I treated myself to:

It looks as though the forecast isn’t good for saturday morning—–oh well!  We’ll get through it, although we may all be soaking wet and cold!

6 miles down

21Sep

I ran 6 miles yesterday!  woot woot!! I don’t even feel that sore/stiff today!  I guess that’s a good sign…….  Only 11 days left til the big day!
